2021: Remembering the good

Hi, how are you?

As is traditional for me, it’s been a while.

There’s no particular reason, and I’m fine, truly I am, but I feel like I’m on autopilot. As I have felt for most of this year to be honest.

I say this at the conclusion of every year as it passes, but seriously where has this year gone??

Cynically chatting about 2020 and the bleak reality of a lockdown Christmas with

my friends could have happened yesterday. And yet here we are, 365 days later.

Of course, amidst the grey days, there have been moments of brilliance too. Moments where I’ve really appreciated life and how thankful I am for every aspect of it. Seeing people irl for the first time in a long time, or ever. Going back to the cinema. Listening to a new album from start to finish. Trying to pronounce wines I can’t pronounce. Walking without purpose. Getting on a train and inevitably losing my ticket. Speaking to strangers. Feeling things again like nothing had changed.

Anyway, I wanted to write something before the year is out, basically as a reminder of these sparkly joyous little things. Because looking at them altogether, they actually amount to quite a big thing.

I hope you have a wonderful festive season and New Year. Here’s to those moments of happiness; there’s plenty more to come.

Lots of love, Georgia xxx

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I think I actually prefer the build up to Christmas than the big day itself.

Whether it's being stuck in a crowded coffee shop waiting for the rain to pass, or last-minute festive jumper buying for the charity day at work, the days leading up to the 25th always seem a little more special; that may be the extra prosecco talking, but it's hard to tell.

For me, these photos capture that festive whirlwind which December seems to wrap everything up in. The lights, the laughter and the mince pies. Horribly cliché, but I certainly think it's worth taking that occasional moment to just step back and take it all in, as after all, sometimes it can be tricky to see beyond the excessive buying, and actually remember what this season is really all about.

Are you looking forward to Christmas?

An Ootd at Salford Quays

I love exploring places that I already know.

I realise that might sound a little odd; we tend to associate new adventures with unknown far off lands and places we've only read about in books. But what if the cities and towns we know so well hold hidden gems and unseen treasures we're yet to discover?

By new discoveries, I don't just mean that quirky gift shop on the corner or the new cafe in the centre of town which only serves chocolate biscuits. I mean those which might have been right in front of our noses the whole time, but we just haven't taken the time to venture to.

Last month I travelled to Salford Quays with the lovely Livia Lazar to capture some fancy new outfit snaps. I had some new red trousers and Livia suggested the Quays could be a good setting to get some interesting shots, so naturally I was on board.

For me, Manchester is somewhere I visit regularly; it's home to my boyfriend and secondly, a place for me to spend far too much money - Alchemist, I am looking at you. However, whilst the Quays is literally 20 mins from the centre, it's just not somewhere I've ever travelled to, and I'm so pleased I did.

I think we all have those places that we think we know like the back of our hands, but on closer inspection, have just about scratched the surface. Even if it seems odd, taking that slight detour down that side street or getting off a couple of tube stops too early could result in a new discovery that we would never have otherwise come across. And discovering is something we all need a little more of, even if it is just a perfect pair of red trousers.

Talking of new journeys, there is a *slight* possibility I could be headed to London in a couple of months. Whilst nothing is, as yet, set in stone, advice from any current residents of the capital would be very welcome - i.e. will I have to live on beans on toast?

Spent a wonderful weekend in Manchester drinking wine (see reference pic) and swanning around the set of Friends.

Perhaps the only show that I've remained faithful to, I cannot tell you how excited I was to sit on that velvet orange sofa and sing 'smelly cat' to my heart's content - you can witness the joy here.

I was surprisingly impressed by how good the whole experience was - the highlight had to be seeing Rachel's 18 page love letter to Ross (front and back!)

Are you a Friends fan?
