Cannot quite comprehend there is only two days remaining of Easter, it's gone far too swiftly for my liking. I am however, quite pleased with how I've spent it - due to my reduced time online, I've actually ventured outside and seen other human beings. Revision should probably have taken a larger portion of my time, but apart from that.

As evidenced in my choice of clothing and nail colour, I am still very much in love with pastels and am therefore attempting to steer clear when purchasing future items.

However, here are some things I am currently lusting after

Now let's just hope this weather can last out the remainder of the holidays.
Seeing as it's only two days it shouldn't be too difficult, although this is England we're talking about..

galaxy nails

Basically, I've seen hundreds of images of 'galaxy' nails dotted around the web and due to the fact I rarely do anything with my nails, I thought I'd give it a go.
There's loads of different ways you can do it, so I merged a few together to create the ones in the picture you see above of my hand.

The colours you're going to need are:
black
metallic/dark blue
metallic purple
metallic pink/cream
white
You will also need a cocktail stick, or a nail art pen for the star detailing as well as a sponge. I also use a clear base coat to stop my nails from staining, as well as  coat to use to go over the top.
Firstly, paint your nails with the base coat, if you're using it, then with the black. Once that has dried, dip your sponge in the dark/metallic blue. Sponge a corner or small section of your nail with the blue and you should get a nice gradient effect. Over the top of this, sponge the purple, put make sure you let some of the blue come through. Repeat with the pink/cream and then, a little of the white. After this, dip your cocktail stick or use your nail art pen to create small circles on your nail. After you've done all of your nails, which might take a while, go over with a clear top coat and voila!

During the many hours I've spent trawling the internet, I keep stumbling upon pictures like this. I never do anything interesting with my nails so I thought I'd do some googling and find a tutorial. Basically, you need nail polish remover (to get rid of existing nail polish), a newspaper, some nail polish (pastel or white shades work best) and some rubbing alcohol. Handy blue peter style photography below.

You'll notice a bottle of Tequila in place of surgical spirit, which conveniently for a family of alcoholics like ourselves, works just as well.

After painting your nails a pale colour and they have dried, you need to dip your nail into the surgical spirit. 

You then press a strip of the newspaper against your nail for about 30-40 seconds being careful not to move it. Then gently peel away the paper and voila.
